Are You Putting Your Health On Hold?

It’s interesting how I hear many times “I’m very hungry but I have to finish this task first” or how people on a constant basis sacrifice their sleep in order to get things done. I even hear from people that they have no time to workout. In my mind, it is no wonder that as a society we are getting sicker and sicker. With the exception of those who work at night because there are jobs where you have to be up all night but you can recuperate the sleep during the day, if you are one of those people doing any of the things I just said, then I ask you, why are you putting your health on hold? If you are doing any of these things, you are indeed putting your health on hold whether you realize it or not. Just like you wouldn’t put your car on hold when it’s low on gas by continuing to drive knowing that you are running out of gasoline, you don’t put your health on hold by not eating, not sleeping, not hydrating it right, not eating the right foods. Your body, your whole body, for that matter, needs to be taken care of as if you were taking care of the most precious thing that you have because indeed it is the most precious thing that you have.

When I say the whole body, I am referring to not just the physical aspect of your body, I’m also referring to the mental, spiritual and emotional aspect because when either one of these parts of you is suffering, it only takes one for all the other parts to be affected with time.

It’s important in life to have balance because it is that balance that helps you achieve your highest well-being. You can not achieve your highest when every other area of your life is good except for your emotional life, for example. It’s only a matter of time for the imbalance that you feel emotionally to start taking over the decisions you make, the things you attract, etc. It is important that you make it a point to strive for balance. I do understand that at times it can be a challenge but it is possible.

It’s important to take a look at all the areas of your life. If you are not happy with your life, ask yourself why. If you are not eating right, find out why. If you can’t seem to get yourself to exercise, find out why. If finding the answers to all these questions feels overwhelming, I suggest you hire a coach. A good coach helps you get from point A to point B. Now if you have serious emotional and mental concerns, by all means, get a good therapist or psychologist. There is nothing wrong with that. I have noticed that what many need is accountability when it comes to achieving their goals and that is one of the things that a good coach can help you with. The point is that you can not afford to be putting your health on hold any longer. Every day and every thing that you do matters and YOU matter as well. Always keep this last phrase in the forefront of your mind.
