I find that sometimes one of the reasons why one may feel unmotivated or exhausted or not have the discipline to do the things that they want to do is because there is something that is draining them. When this is the case, it seems and feels as if there is nothing that can cheer you up, nothing that can motivate you and it may feel like no amount of sleep gives you the energy you need for the day. If this is the case, it is necessary to figure out what is it that is draining you.
There are several things that can drain a person and it is important to pinpoint which one it is. There are some things that it is inevitable not to feel drained like when a loved one is sick but even so, in times like this it is still very important to take care of yourself. When this happens, it takes very little to lose your balance and you will feel at times as if you have to play catch up. Even in times of distress, it is important to do your best to eat right. Not just eat but eat right. What you eat is what will sustain you. You also have to do your best to do things that relax you. I know for personal experience that this is a challenge but finding a way to distract yourself, even if it is for 30 minutes, will help minimize the amount of stress your body is going through. You also need to make sure you are getting your sleep. Sleep is so essential and you will most definitely need it when having to make tough decisions. Sleep is one of those things that I would have to discuss on another post but it is so necessary for your overall health.
There are people who can actually drain your energy. You will know when this is the case based on how you feel after either talking to them or being around them. They either constantly talk about things that are so plain depressing or their ways just suck the life out of you or they put you down. You don’t need that! When this is the case, the first step is recognizing this, then understand what it is that makes it draining for you so you know what you don’t need from others and either minimize your contact with them or just stay away from them completely. Life is too beautiful for you to be around those that don’t make you feel good.
Sometimes it is work that can drain you. In this case you have several options. If you really can’t stand the job, start looking for another one. Work is where you spend most of your time during the day and so you can not afford to feel so miserable most of the time. This is so damaging to your overall well-being. If for whatever reason you are unable to change jobs, do your best to change your perspective of it. Sometimes a change of mindset is what we need in order to feel differently about this.
The list can go on and on of the things that can drain you. It is important that you learn to identify what it is that makes you feel this way and do something about it. Your well-being depends on it.
